A volunteer has a great mission in the world: to draw smiles, fill hearts with joy and in one way or another, relieve the pain of the most vulnerable; this mission is very clear to the members of Amadeus, one of the 15 most important software companies in the world that works to create solutions that help the main players in the travel industry, to improve the travel experience on a global scale.
Within the company there is a very important date, the celebration of Volunteer Day, an opportunity to give and receive, in Colombia has been developed for 12 years and today has become a global initiative of the company.
A Stand Up Comedy show, food sales within the company, the adoption of Plan Chanchito and the donation of products from the “Tablero de Sueños” of the Proyecto Unión Foundation, were some of the fundraising strategies used during 4 months to achieve the goal.
Each year the committee in charge chooses initiatives, projects or foundations and on this occasion they decided to put into action their desire to help the Seconds of Life Foundation and the program Casa de los Angeles of the Union Project Foundation, a home away from home for families who come from remote regions in search of medical treatment, in 2021 the Hogar Santa Rita de Cascia was chosen to carry out this beautiful celebration.
The fruits of these strategies were reflected on November 17, when 125 volunteers, members of the company, arrived early in the morning at the Centro de Vida Los Angeles facilities located in the Sabana del Parque Jaime Duque Ecopark Nature Reserve, the objective was not only to deliver milk, diapers and other products, but also to give their generosity and best attitude.
The day began early with words from Dr. Fernando Quintero, Director of the Union Project Foundation, then they were divided into groups so that all volunteers could participate in different activities such as painting, gardening and recreation.
Many volunteers took their brushes and rollers to beautify every corner of Casa de los Angeles and fill it with life. In the vegetable garden, maintenance and planting of seedlings was performed, and thanks to the support of our ally, Jaime Duque Park, they were able to visit some stations of “Our Planet” a space where you can find different scenarios in which you can have an encounter with nature. The last activity was recreation, a space for the bravest, our children, where they enjoyed music, dance, paintings and had a moment of relaxation through yoga. Last but not least, the beneficiary moms had their space for beautification, where they were pampered and made to feel like queens.
Evidently, young and old enjoyed this great day of volunteering, this space managed to gather a large number of employees to put into action their desire to help, thanks to the joint work of the Institutional Development Team of the Foundation and the members of the company, who decided to carry out volunteering as a social responsibility program, which made it possible for this day to achieve the most important objective, transform lives and draw smiles in the midst of pain.
