Thanks to the initiative of a group of volunteer angels, led by Eduardo Quintero, to contribute to the visual health of the grandparents living on the streets. A health brigade was held last month, in which 130 old adults, beneficiaries of the Fundación Proyecto Unión, were evaluated. They had the opportunity to receive their prescription lenses last weekend.
The sum of efforts that include the participation of a group of optometrists, alongside with the sponsorship of Ópticas Visión and the will of Olga Rueda, Alexandra, Karem, Vicky and Catalina, made it possible for the grandparents to improve their quality of life. The above, since the majority of them do not have the possibility of accessing specialized services to acquire glasses for their visual rehabilitation, due to their difficult economic conditions.
On the other hand, a group of volunteer weavers from the “La Manta” group, joined forces to this great initiative and donated the cords to hold the grandparents’ glasses. The hands and hearts of the weavers have always commited so that the grandparents do not lack shelter and now so that they carry that mark of love and solidarity in their new glasses. Likewise, María T. Cortes García, a painter inspired by this brigade, decided to put her abilities into action, donating the acrylic “Universe in Florescence”, a beautiful work that now occupies a very important place in the “María is my Mother” community dining room for the beneficiary grandparents.
Thank to all of those who made it possible to bring it back hope and joy to our grandparents, who now with their new glasses can clearly appreciate their surroundings, as well as the solidarity and kindness of all the donor angels and volunteers who came together to carry out this great cause.
