On the occasion of the celebration of St. Rita de Cascia’s feast day on May 22nd, a mass was held at the children’s home named in her honor. The Catholic Church recognizes her as the advocate of the impossible and in gratitude to the family of Bernardo Pelaez and Pepita Echeverri, who brought the devotion of the Saint to Colombia from Italy, the members of the community gathered today to fulfill the important mission of giving hope to more than 60 children who are beneficiaries of the children’s home.
The ceremony, which was in charge of Father Juan Carlos Burbano, paid a heartfelt tribute to the Saint, as well as to Pepita Pelaez Echeverry and her family, for making it possible for the most vulnerable children in our country to have a home where they can live, surrounded by love, with professionals in charge of their integral care and where they currently receive their classes for their personal development. For this reason our volunteer angels Margoth Martinez and Margarita Perdomo, organizers of this tribute, delivered the altarpiece with the prayer to Santa Rita that will occupy a special place in the heart of our Home.
Thanks to Carolina Diaz, our volunteer angel in charge of the choir and to all those who accompanied us in this Eucharist, which was transmitted live via facebook and which gathered mainly children, as well as a hundred people, who took the opportunity to follow the example of kindness and prayer of St. Rita of Cascia.
