“Christmas always finds a way” is the campaign launched by Coca-Cola this Christmas to make a difference in the most vulnerable population, in this case elderly street dwellers and recycling families, who decided to gather around the table in the food bank “María es mi Madre” of Proyecto Unión, to share lunch, gifts and celebrate the joy of Christmas with such enriching news as the contributions they will receive for the year 2023.
Juan Sebastián Jiménez, Director of Public Affairs, Sustainability and Communications of Coca-Cola, who opened the event, said that the origin of the campaign arose because the company has always focused on finding those special moments of sharing, family togetherness, friends or social groups and found that lunchtime is one of them, so they looked for a way to make a difference and impact the vulnerable population at Christmas, choosing the foundations Proyecto Unión and Pocalana. For Juan Sebastián, who has been with the company for 4 years, choosing and supporting these populations has a very special meaning as a person because from the area he leads in Coca Cola he can work for the people.
The purpose of Coca Cola, besides refreshing the world, is to make a difference. In the case of Fundación Proyecto Unión, they decided to do it through the donation of 64,000 plates of food, achieving a great impact for the grandparents who live in Santa Fe, in the center of the capital, and who have been attending this community dining room for more than 20 years in search of their daily breakfast and lunch.
This company, famous worldwide for its line of products, is making a difference through its sustainability platform and its program “A world without waste”, which aims to collect 100% of the containers on the market by 2030, and therefore works with recycling families to make their work more dignified, safe and with better income. This is the first time they have worked with elderly street people, but they found in them the possibility of contributing and fulfilling the company’s purpose of contributing not only to economic development but also to social and environmental development.
More than 200 grandparents thanked with a hug, smile and applause the special gesture of Coca-Cola that will provide 40 thousand lunches and 24 thousand breakfasts, contributing significantly to the daily nutrition during 2023 and achieving a great impact on the health and welfare of their lives.
