Inés García, a young Venezuelan mother, who had to deal with her son’s cancer from a very young age, arrived in Colombia in October 2018, thanks to the Abraza un Sueño Foundation, which provided her with the tickets, from Maracaibo in order to seek support for the medical treatment of the 3-year-old Roger Alejandro, who despite having made progress with a treatment in Venezuela, he fell back.

Already in Colombia, Inés contacted Fundación Proyecto Unión, which provided her with accommodation and started a second treatment, looking for a new life opportunity, but her son entered the metastatic phase and three months later, on December 31, he said goodbye and went to heaven, where he continues to illuminate his path.

Her memories of the time she lived with her son at “Casa de los Angeles” are full of joy, tranquility and love, as they felt the warmth of a family. It was Roger’s favorite place, who enjoyed nature, the hours in the music room, the TV room, the carts, as well as the visits to the Jaime Duque Park. Today this courageous angel continues to accompany us in the White House, as he called it, since his remains occupy an important place in our garden. “I have always received unconditional support from the foundation, thank God, Dr. Fernando for being so special and always accompanying us, especially in this last stage of my son’s life, in the ICU, with his words of encouragement, that’s more important than the treatment and a roof, the emotional support received during these difficult times is comforting”, said Inés.

This fact affected her life too much, so she drew strength that came from heaven and showed her the way to move on with her life in Colombia. Thanks to the proposal of Dr. Fernando Quintero, Director of Fundación Proyecto Unión, she worked for 3 years in the financial area, then moved to the archival section, where he always stood out for his commitment, professionalism and responsibility.

Today her life changes direction, new horizons are opening up, for her future in another workplace, because she wants to bet on continuing to grow personally and professionally, she wants to buy her own home, be a mother again, always walking forward, with the strength and inner light that help her to overcome the obstacles she faces. During her time at the Inés Foundation she was filled with strength, it was an opportunity to fulfill the mission of giving hope back to her life, she in turn leaves us her great example of resilience for our lives.
