A hundred homeless grandparents received optometry, dentistry, medicine and hairdressing services during the health brigade organised by the Proyecto Unión Foundation at its headquarters ‘Comedor María es mi Madre’ in the centre of the capital.
From very early in the morning, the grandparents were welcomed with hot coffee and a pleasant accordion serenade, while they waited for their appointments. They were also given refreshments, clothes, shoes, glasses and their respective medicines.
Many stories and teachings were shared by the grandparents, who enjoyed being listened to. ‘I am very grateful for the attention they gave me today, for the food they give me in this dining room every day and the bed in Casa la Esperanza,’ said Maria Esperanza Gonzales, a 78 year old beneficiary.
We are grateful for the support of all those who made this great brigade possible, especially our volunteers from medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, the optometry team from U. La Salle, the Solidarity Blanket, those responsible for logistics, hairdressing, donations and the person in charge of providing the lively music that enlivened the morning.
Once again, this great team of volunteer angels, with a vocation for service, came together to give their time, bringing joy and hope to a hundred grandparents in vulnerable conditions.
Be part of this team of volunteers and help us to transform lives.
